Custom Western Art Commissions by Mike Capron

Turning Your Story into Art
A commissioned piece from Texas Cowboy Art is more than a custom painting—it’s a personal story brought to life through the eyes of a working cowboy. Mike Capron offers a limited number of commissions each year, creating one-of-a-kind artworks that capture the people, animals, and places that define your western experience.
Each commission is a collaboration. Whether it’s a memory from a branding, a favorite horse, a family ranch, or a story that deserves to be told, Mike uses his firsthand experience of cowboy life to translate it into an image that feels genuine and alive.
From the first sketch to the final brushstroke or pen line, every decision is made to honor the story you want to preserve.

What Makes a Capron Commission Unique
Mike’s commissioned works stand apart because they’re grounded in truth. He doesn’t just paint what looks western—he paints what is western.
Each piece reflects decades of experience on horseback and an artist’s understanding of light, proportion, and composition. He knows how horses move, how the land looks after a rain, and how humor fits into every day on the range. That depth of understanding turns every commission into a piece of living history.
When you commission artwork from Mike, you receive not just an image, but a lasting tribute to the way of life you know and love.

Inspiration for Commissioned Pieces

-
A rancher’s favorite horse, faithfully rendered in oil or ink
-
A family’s generational brand and the story behind it
-
Cowboy humor scenes drawn from real-life adventures
-
Historic or local Texas landmarks painted in rich color
-
Ranch work, roping, or trail moments that deserve to be remembered
Each commission carries personal meaning, turning private memories into heirloom pieces that can be passed down and shared for generations.
The Commission Process
Step 1: Share Your Vision
Contact Mike by phone or email to discuss your idea. You can describe your story, send reference photos, or outline the mood or setting you’d like captured.
Step 2: Choose Medium and Size
Mike will guide you in selecting the right medium—oil for rich color and texture, or pen and ink for bold line work and classic storytelling. He will also help determine the appropriate size for your space and subject.
Step 3: Approval and Progress
Once the concept is finalized, Mike begins with sketches to capture composition and movement. He shares updates to ensure your story is represented accurately and authentically.
Step 4: Completion and Delivery
When the piece is complete, it is signed, packed, and shipped directly from the Sheffield studio. Free shipping is included within the United States, and prints—if ordered—are produced and shipped after the original’s completion.
